Blair Comley / Director

Blair Comley joined Port Jackson Partners as a Director in January 2018

Blair is an economist with over 20 years of experience in public policy advising and leadership at both Commonwealth and state levels.  Blair has advised governments on some of the most complex strategic public policy questions of the last two decades including the design of the GST, the role of the government debt market and the design of carbon pricing and the emissions trading scheme.

In the Commonwealth Government Blair was the Secretary of the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and Secretary of the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism. Blair joined the Commonwealth Treasury in 1994 working on a range of issues including tax policy, competition policy, environment policy and macroeconomic policy. He also represented Australia on economic matters at the OECD in Paris.

Blair was the Secretary of the New South Wales Department of Premier and Cabinet, the State's most senior public servant. While in New South Wales Blair advised on the full range of issues facing the NSW Government including infrastructure and Commonwealth-State relations.

Blair was awarded a Public Service Medal in the 2012 Australia Day Honours in recognition of his outstanding contribution to public policy.

Blair has a keen interest in organisational leadership and design. He is regularly invited to speak on leadership issues and was a key architect of the New South Wales Leadership Academy.

Blair was also a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Monash University and a Special Adviser with PWC.

While not at work Blair is a golf tragic and enjoys cooking for his wife Janet and their two daughters.

Blair has a First Class Honours Degree in Economics, a Masters of Economics from Monash University and a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Australian National University.
