I was born and raised in Denmark where I also earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Molecular Biomedicine, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Haematology. During my time in research, I realised that what I loved the most was learning new things and solving intricate problems. Additionally, I realised I preferred working with others as a team and really enjoyed when the work I did made a significant impact. These insights ultimately made me consider shifting toward a career in management consulting.

Why PJP?

An opportunity arose to relocate to Sydney straight after my Ph.D., and I saw this as an excellent opportunity both to live on the other side of the world and also to shift fields. I had heard about PJP through one of my friends from Denmark who had exchanged at PJP from the Danish management consultancy Qvartz, and he spoke very highly of PJP and their people.

I was particularly attracted to PJP's focus on small teams with high senior involvement, which I knew would accelerate my development as a management consultant. As a boutique firm, PJP focuses on strategy and cater to senior management of top companies, another feature of PJP that I found highly attractive.

People and culture at PJP

Consulting is a people business and therefore, besides strong analytical and problem solving skills, you need to be able to connect with your clients to gain their confidence and trust. The people at PJP come from a variety of backgrounds including science, social science and engineering, as well as business. Common to all is that they can quickly grasp different problems, analyse the data presented, and formulate the best solution.

People here are smart and hard working but at the same time there is a really friendly and collegial culture and people are always willing to help you if you have any challenges.

The company does a lot to make sure there is a strong social cohesion, and there is often social events or activities planned both in and out of the office. Relocating from Denmark the friendliness of everyone at PJP and the opportunity to socialise with my colleagues outside of work have helped both my partner and I feel more at home in Sydney.

Outside of work

I love good food and spend a lot of time cooking and wandering around speciality shops/produce markets and exploring restaurants. I try to prioritise time for home-cooking and baking. Additionally, I like to scuba dive and nourish this hobby now living in Australia.
