Why I chose PJP

When I finished my MBA and decided to enter the world of consulting, I had a few options available to me; I could go with one of the big international firms or join Port Jackson Partners, the Sydney based strategy boutique. After meeting with a few people at both the big firm and PJP, my mind was made up. The people at Port Jackson Partners were so impressive and the work they did was so impactful. I remain convinced that I made the right call every time I look back at my decision and the alternative.

Work/life balance

I joined PJP at a time when my wife was running a start-up while looking after our two year old, and our second child was due imminently. I remember thinking that this was the worst possible time to become a consultant after hearing horror stories about terrible work/life balance!

After nine months with PJP, I've found that I make it home in time to see my kids most evenings and my weekends remain my own. A lot of companies will say that they offer flexible work arrangements but it's rare to actually see them walking the walk.

The IT infrastructure and support at PJP make working from home almost frictionless, which makes a busy life a lot easier to manage.
