Why management consulting?

It wasn't until my final year in university that I decided to pursue a career in management consulting over law. In many ways, these industries are quite similar in that you work closely with clients to solve their most challenging commercial problems, however I felt that strategy consulting would not only provide greater international opportunities but also give me exposure to a wider range of industries and at a more senior level within client organisations earlier on in my career.

Growth and development

I have learned a huge amount in my time at PJP, developing both my 'soft' skills and technical problem-solving skills. There is a real focus on continuous development through regular firm wide training and individual feedback sessions.

The nature of working in small, partner led teams across a diverse range of industries also lends itself to rapid development and a high level of responsibility early on.

People and culture at PJP

I found it extremely easy to settle in at PJP. The people here are all extremely bright and motivated, and eager to help one another. One of the simplest things that enabled me to get to know everyone so quickly that we often make the time to eat lunch together. We have regular firm wide social events such as long lunches, BBQs and sports days but more often than not events, trips, and nights out pop up spontaneously.

  • Joined Deloitte Ireland as a Strategy & Operations Analyst focussing on Financial Services
  • Led design and implementation of new anti-money laundering systems across 8 business units in a multi-national bank
  • Promoted to Consultant
  • Joined Port Jackson Partners as a Business Analyst
  • Developed a new digital strategy for a major Australian entertainment company
  • Assisted in an Industry Leaders engagement programme with a State government which identified key opportunities and challenges facing businesses within the State
  • Promoted to Associate
  • Developed an opex incentive mechanism, and core operational financial models for monopoly rail owner
  • Redesigned operating model for fast growing international hotel chain
  • Helped develop core business strategy for recently privatised energy company
